mp3 to my music hardrive (on my computer it is the F: drive) I played the song in VDJ (which scans it) and then checked the local. including a media reader that creates 4 extra drives. I have a bunch of external drives on my computer. mp3 file called "Find Me - Test.mp3" so I could find it in the xml files quickly. (And I am not hollering when I capitalize, I am just trying to make it easier to read. BUT I can see a powered drive inside VDJ in CONFIG. I can play music from the drive, it acts normal but just cannot see the drive in the drop down on the Browser Tab in CONFIG inside VDJ. I can see the drive in the folders list, I can do EVERYTHING you suggest but it still stores the database on C. right click that folder and "add to search DB" done. right click on that folder and add it to "my favorites monitored folder" yada yada that folder should now show up in your favorite folder list. is your USB drive listed there? if so double click on it and drill down to one of your music folders on that drive. IN VDJ double click "my computer" you should see all your hard drives. I've seen it put the database on my thumbdrives) connect your "non-powered USB drive" back up to the laptop. (VDJ has no idea what kind of drive is connected. This sounds more like a windows OS issue, then a VDJ problem. Any suggestions on how to get VDJ to see a non-powered USB drive? It plays music from the drive but does not see in on the Browser tab inside VDJ config. I connected a powered USB drive to the same laptop and it see that drive and stores the database on the USB drive. New discovery just now! The external USB drive I am using is a non-powered USB drive. Repeat this for any other drives/folders that you have music stored on.New discovery just now! The external USB drive I am using is a non-powered USB drive. Right-click on the drive/folder and choose Add to search DB. Start the software, then use the VirtualDJ browser to browse to where your music is located. Once you have restored your database, install the latest VirtualDJ v7.0.3 from your Download Center. Please see backup database & settings and backup music collection. You should always backup your database and music collection on a regular basis along with any other files on your computer that are important to you. If you do not have a backup, then unfortunately you will have to start again from scratch. Please see Simply restore your v6 database from your backup. There have been many bugs fixed in the latest version as well as many new features added. Are you still using versions prior to v6.0.5? We have been on v7 for some time now and the latest version is v7.3. Always wait until you have plenty of time to install and test the update (If you DJ at weekends only, then Monday is a good time to do this.) Also, this thread is over 2 years old and is for a very old and out-of-date version of the software. You should never make any changes to your system just prior to going to a gig.
